POWER Engineers Invites Tierra Group to Present at Industry Conference

Pompano Beach, Fla. – April 3, 2024. Tierra Group, a provider of assured geoscience solutions, was honored to have recently presented its viewpoint on dewatering before an industry group at the Power Delivery Design Conference hosted by POWER Engineers, Inc. The event was held on March 6-7, 2024 in Sun Valley, Idaho. A link to the conference subject matter can be found here: HOME – 2024 Power Delivery Design Conference (cvent.com)

Paul Connor, Colonel, USAF, Retired and Chief Executive Officer of Tierra Group was the presenter. Connor delivered a presentation addressing the challenges of complicated dewatering processes where water and other materials must be effectively removed or relocated from construction job sites. This can often involve “water ponding” to lower the water table where construction is being done.

“The approval and permitting process can be quite complex before the core work of removal can begin,” said Connor as part of his presentation. “Obstructions and encumbrances along with excavation and relocation are critical factors in dewatering,” Connor added. “I was pleased to represent Tierra Group at this prestigious event put on by leaders in the power delivery field, POWER Engineers.”

Connor’s presentation was part of an accredited program by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). POWER Engineers has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard which is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice. As a result of their Accredited Provider status, POWER Engineers is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.

Pompano Beach, Fla. – June 21, 2023. Tierra Group, a provider of assured geoscience solutions, has
expanded its business footprint with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) specifically
supporting Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) 8.

Known as the VA’s Sunshine Healthcare Network, it is the nation’s largest system of hospitals and clinics
serving a patient population of more than 1.5 million veterans and covers 64,153 square miles
comprising 79 counties in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Florida, South Georgia, and the U.S. Virgin
Islands. Tierra Group has a long history of providing a variety of environmental engineering,
Environment of Care, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) support throughout the
system and this new opportunity helps the relationship to grow into the future.

Tierra Group was selected as a valued team member on the recently awarded 5-year Architecture and
Engineering Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) servicing VISN 8’s North Region (Puerto Rico

Waterway Cleanup Gets Tierra Group Help

Pompano Beach, Fla. – March 04, 2023. The management and staff of Tierra Group were pleased to be a part of the annual Broward County Waterway Cleanup. Since the 1970s – and thanks to the Marine Industries Association of South Florida – the Cleanup has become the County’s largest and longest-running environmental event. If this year’s actions were as successful as last year’s, more than 25 tons of trash and debris would have been removed from our South Florida waterways.

According to Tierra Group CEO, USAF Colonel (retired) Paul Conner, “Our crew was stationed on the South Fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale. We had a great time enjoying the beautiful weather and helping to give something back to the environment that gives so much to us.” For more details on the Cleanup, visit https://waterwaycleanup.org/.

Tierra Group Expands Business Portfolio, Hires New Senior Leader

Pompano Beach, Fla. – February 20, 2023. Tierra Group, a provider of assured geoscience
solutions, has expanded its service portfolio to include subsurface utility engineering (mapping and
locating) for the benefit of the energy generation, power transmission, and public/private infrastructure
sectors. To head up this initiative, Tierra has hired Rufus D. Swift III who has decades of related
experience within and for various transportation and public service companies.

“The expansion of subsurface utility mapping is a natural fit for our integrated business model,
which includes providing services in multi-stage soil and groundwater remediation. Understanding what
lies below the ground surface is critical to safely developing operations for projects of new generating
capacity and other utilities’ legacy infrastructure,” said Scott Zednek, president of Tierra Group. Zednek
further added, “Rufus’ work in this area, more recently with DMRP, will prove to be invaluable to our
clients as we strive to be a one-stop resource for expansion in the utility industries.”

Subsurface utility engineering helps round out the three critical areas where Tierra can add
value for clients. That includes environmental risk assessment for project stakeholders; site evaluations,
surveying and mapping for engineering designers; and permitting and environmental compliance for
project managers.

Prior to joining Tierra, Swift served as DMRP’s subsurface utilities manager for South Florida and
prior to that role worked as CSX’s subsurface engineering services manager and crew supervisor for their
E-RAILSAFE System. His technical experience includes subsurface utility designation for large right-of-
way projects for both large and smaller sites and obtaining survey data for the various types of surveys
required. Swift has extensive experience working with utility designating equipment and has worked
with other such organizations as City of Sunrise, Broward County, Florida; Florida Power & Light; South
Florida Water Management District, Palm Beach County, Florida; and the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT).
